We outline our data protection policy for ReACT anti-social behaviour case management software.
“Data Protection” is a very important subject especially within context to the ReACT data that our customers hold about persons and individuals. We have been asked recently from various clients “how we can delete the ReACT data relating to certain people” to conform to the Data Protection Act 1998.
Although the simple answer is “yes” we can delete the data, it’s more a question of “what” gets deleted. Many ReACT ASB case management clients seem to want to keep the integrity of a case, for reporting purposes, but yet want to remove the personal details.
Off the back of the discussions held at the annual ReACT User Group 2015, it seems the safest route is to create a module / function of ReACT that allows certain parameters to be set as to what can be deleted. For example, set the routine to remove all person information for cases older than X years, but only if person Y does not have an active court order against them. It is also safest for us to present the information that is to be deleted to an Administrator who can verify the data before getting deleted from the system. As with many deletes in ReACT, once gone, it is gone!
ReACT will be doing some research and development into the delete routine and process, and also working with key contacts to discuss the specifics of what data needs to be included.
